BURN BARRIER™ GLAZE NO. 18 CLASS “A” FIRE RESISTANT TILE-LIKE FINISH
COATING

Product Description:
BURN BARRIER™ Glaze No. 18 is designed for use over non-combustible substrates, and as a topcoat
(overcoat) for BURN BARRIER™ No. 46081 and No. 46081X Thermal Insulating(Intumescent) Fire
Retardant Two Component Epoxy Coating. It is suitable for both interior and exterior applications. This
two component, Class “A” rated coating has the following outstanding properties; high-gloss finish,
hardness, toughness, excellent color retention, as well as having excellent chemical and water resistant
properties.

Application:
Prepare the substrate to be coated by removing all dirt, oil, grease, and other foreign matter. On
previously coated substrates, remove all foreign matter and loose paint. Dull glossy surfaces. It is
suggested a small area is tested, prior to full application, to determine compatibility with existing
coating. If lifting or peeling occurs, totally remove all previous coatings, before applying BURN
BARRIER™ Glaze No. 18.

Add Component “B” to Component “A” (2 quarts to 1/2 gallon, 1: 1. Mix well. Can be applied by brush,
roller, conventional or airless spray. Thinning is not recommended; however, if desired for spray
application, use only BURN BARRIER™ No. 18 Reducer, maximum 1/2 pint per gallon of activated
material.

BURN BARRIER™ Glaze No. 18 will dry tack free in one to three hours, and will have very good
overnight cure. The dry times and rate of cure, depends upon the film thickness as well as surface and
surrounding air temperatures. Maximum cure is obtained in approximately seven days.

Total Solids by Weight ... 70%, Vehicle Nonvolatile - 60%
Pot Life ............................... 12 to 18 hours
Gloss at 60 Degrees .............90 plus, P.V.C. 15.5%
Coverage ..............................400 to 600 sq.ft./gl./coat, two coats recommended.

Tinting: Compatible with most tinting colorants that can be used with two part epoxy and two part
urethane coatings.

Fire Tests:
Flame Spread Ratings: Class “A”. When tested in accordance with ASTM E-84 [NFPA 255, UL No. 723,
ANSI 2.5, and UBC 8-1], the coating obtained the following fire hazard classification. Complete test
reports available upon request.


WARNING: FLAMMABLE LIQUID & VAPOR: CONTAINS XYLENE & PETROLEUM DISTILLATES.
VAPOR HARMFUL. MAY AFFECT THE BRAIN OR NERVOUS SYSTEM CAUSING
DIZZINESS, HEADACHE OR NAUSEA. CAUSES EYE, SKIN, NOSE AND THROAT
IRRITATION.

NOTICE: Reports have associated repeated and prolonged occupational over exposure to solvents with permanent brain and nervous system damage. Intentional misuse by deliberately concentrating and inhaling the contents may be harmful or fatal. Keep away from heat, sparks and flame. VAPORS MAY CAUSE FLASH FIRE. Do not smoke. Extinguish all flames and pilot lights, and turn off stoves, heaters, electric motors and other sources of ignition during use and until all vapors are gone. Prevent build-up of vapors by opening all windows and doors to achieve cross-ventilation.

USE ONLY WITH ADEQUATE VENTILATION: Do not breathe vapors or spray mist. Ensure fresh
air entry during application and drying. If you experience eye watering, headaches or dizziness or if air
monitoring demonstrates vapor/mist levels are above applicable limits, warrant appropriate properly
fitted respirator (NIOSH/MSHA approved) during and after application. Follow respirator manufacturer’s
directions for respirator use. Close container after each use. Avoid contact with eyes, skin and
clothing. Wash thoroughly after handling.

FIRST AID: If you experience difficulty in breathing, leave the area to obtain fresh air. If continue
difficulty is experienced, get medical assistance immediately. In case of eye contact, flush immediately
with plenty of water for at least is minutes and get medical attention; for skin, wash thoroughly with soap
and water. If swallowed, get medical attention immediately. If spilled, contain spilled material and
remove with inert absorbent. Dispose of contaminated absorbent, container and unused contents in
accordance with local, state, and federal regulations.
