The Membrane Penetrator
What if the cable outlet is required to be installed inside of the fire wall or smoke wall? We have a Sleeve System that will do the job. This device installs in 2 minutes and offers a U. L. Classified, clear and sealed path to "fish" cables inside a fire wall. At a 40 % Cable Load, you may install up to (9) Cat 5 UTP cables in it on the MP-1.

See U.L. System#W-L-3230. It may be used in a 1 or 2 hour rated drywall.

The System creates its own hole and is secured with expanding anchors. There are a pair of anchors for 5/8 inch drywall. Intumescent putty for this system is included as well.

mp1.jpg (11621 bytes) The System consist of a 6 inch square metal plate with a 1or 2 inch sleeve (6 inches long) welded at a 45 degree angle to the 6 inch square plate. A plastic bushing and a pair of expanding wall anchors for use in 5/8 thick fire rated dry wall. A small amount of Unique putty is included.
mp2.jpg (13767 bytes)

Prior to installation, remove the anchors, putty and label. Remove the plastic bushing.

mp3.jpg (14881 bytes)

Prior to installation, remove the anchors, putty and label. Remove the plastic bushing.

mp4.jpg (13931 bytes)

Make sure plate fits flush against the wall. Now, remove the plate and go on to the next step.

(Be sure to clean out the back of the wall where the hole was made by the sleeve.)

memcaulk.jpg (67649 bytes)

Apply a small bead of (non intumescent) firestop caulk to the back of the plate and around the sleeve to seal the Membrane Penetrator to the wall.

Re-insert the system in to the hole you made.

mp5.jpg (13507 bytes)

Now, carefully drive the expanding anchors through the face of the system and in the drywall.

mp6.jpg (12157 bytes)

There are small slots in the holes for the anchor to grab, allowing you to fully expand the anchor while securing the plate flush to the wall.

Note: The Membrane Penetrator is now permanently installed. Don't forget to carefully push the bushing back on. Drop your cables through the sleeve and down to the wall outlet.

mp8.jpg (12048 bytes)

Don't forget to carefully push the bushing back on. Drop your cables through the sleeve and down to the wall outlet. Cable load is 40%. Apply an inch thickness of the supplied intumescent putty, installed in the top of the sleeve.

Be sure to fill out the Documentation Warning Label. It is recommended that you take a photo of your installed System for future reference.
